Announcement of the national team

Over the last few days we have run national trials. It gives us great pleasure to announce the South African team that will attend Eurasian Schools Debating Championships in August. The team is as follows.

Josh Broomberg – Captain (Gauteng)
Dan Peter (Gauteng)
Rachel Gardiner (Eastern Cape)
Nicole Dunn (Western Cape)

The selectors are exceptionally pleased with this team and look forward to working with them closely in the future.
Sam Musker (Gauteng) was announced as the official team reserve.

The general quality of the trials squad was exceptional with some fiercely competitive debating taking place during the trials process. The other 8 speakers will be attending oversees tours as members of two South Africa A teams.

Thank you to all the selectors and trainers involved, and well done to the speakers!

Appointment of National Academy Shadow Coaches

After much discussion and consideration the shadow academy coaches have been appointed. We would like to congratulate  Bernice Badal and Ntokozo Hlongwane for their appointment. We look forward to working with you!

Thank you very much to everyone else who expressed interest and applied and we hope that you will remain involved in the South African Debating Community.

National adjudicator database

Dear debating community,

The SASDB is compiling a national database of adjudicators. This database will allow us (1) to keep a record of adjudicators and their contact details, so we can contact you with information and opportunities and (2) keep an ongoing record of achievements and feedback, to assist with things such as assigning adjudication panels.

We have set up an online form for everybody who is interested to submit their details. The database will be made up of these entries as well as our own data from national tournaments. Please enter as much information as possible, and if you would like to update your personal information, you can do so at any time.

The form can be found here.

Yours,
SASDB Exec
