Mpumalanga do not have an affiliated debating board or recognised debating leagues operating within the province. If there is any interest in starting a debating league through your school and you require any expertise to begin this project, please contact the Development officer of the SASDB:

Appeal for Information

If you know of other debating initiatives in the North West, or are interested in starting a league or running training programmes, please let us know! (See the Contact Us page for details.) We may be able to help you with training material or trainers, but even if you don’t need this please let us know: we would appreciate the opportunity to get a complete picture of the debating that is happening in schools in South Africa, and to get these initiatives to feed into the National Schools Debating Championships.

  1. I know of a group of students who would like to be part of your finals in october. they are from different schools. they are very good. what procedures should they follow. they are from a rural area called Nkomazi, in Mpumalanga

    1. Hi there. Students can only qualify for the national tournament by being selected for the provincial teams. In Mpumalanga, the provincial board is still setting up and is based primarily around Secunda. Should you wish to get more details about their qualifying tournaments, please contact Mpho Serake at Good luck! –Admin

        1. Hi Muzi,

Unfortunately Mpumalanga does not have a schools debating board that we can refer you to. However, we’re excited to hear that you guys are running debating competitions! We’re running the New Provinces Development Project this year to try to set up official structures in provinces like yours. You can expect an email from us as soon as we have finalised dates for this project.

  2. Good day

I’m a communication intern at a government institution called Siyathemba Thusong Service Center. Our institution is developed from a six block model and one of those blocks is Education and Skills Development. Under this block I have become very interested in the possibility of exposing the learners who attend school in the Dipaleseng Municipality to the discipline of Debate.

I would like your orgainastions input on how I can go about making this a reality.

    Thank you.
